Review: Evil - Season 3, Episode 10 (Finale)

A thrilling conclusion to a spooky third season of Evil! This has fast become one of my favorite shows, and I’m so glad Paramount+ has already renewed this show for season 4 because wow, let’s talk about that ending.

The toilet-lurking demon from earlier in the season returns to cause more chaos for our trio of paranormal investigators, this time having travelled through Kristen’s house pipes to her neighbors. The unfortunate family on the other side of the duplex are now experiencing some strange noises that have come to the attention of the church elders and as a result, Kristen, David and Ben are sent to investigate. It helps them to get their minds off the murder of the Montsignor, courtesy of Leland.

Meanwhile, the smart Bouchard girls are adamant their father Andy is coming home – but that Leland is responsible for his delay. The quick-thinking sisters message Leland through their computer game they’ve been taunting him through this season and manage to catch him out when the game alert goes off during Kristen’s video call with Andy’s “boss” – oops! Well done, girls. You just saved your father’s life.

Am I the only one disappointed Andy didn’t die? (Sorry, Patrick Brammall. You’re great.) The show is more exciting for me when it’s just Kristen and her girls as we get to see Ben and David around the house more. I love it when they all spend time together as one big demon-fighting family.

Andy also returns home with a new-found skill: He can see demons now! The scene of him walking in on the circle of the demonic creatures in the house sets up a plotline for season 4 that may have Andy more involved with Kristen’s work. It also may lead him to believe the girls about what really happened to him, though Kristen is currently skeptical about Leland’s involvement in Andy’s disappearance.

Sister Andrea has been a huge highlight for me this season. Watching her walk through the Bouchard house and bludgeon demons with a shovel was hilarious. Not to mention her casually advising Lynn on life while she did so. Classic Sister Andrea. More of her in season 4, please!

David has had his own demons to deal with this season.. literally. Evil!Kristen continues to appear in his bedroom, and Sister Andrea provides him with a mosquito net to keep her away at night, though she still lurks in his room. I’m intrigued as to where this plotline will go in season 4. It’s a great way to feed the David/Kristen shippers, but still not quite as good as the real thing would be.

Naturally, Kristen is very happy that her husband didn’t die in an avalanche, but you’d think she’d question Edward’s story after checking with her climber friends and them not knowing anything about the avalanche. Andy making it home so soon after going “missing” is also suspicious but Kristen just seems to let it go… for now, she has bigger problems. Such as those promises she made to God in exchange for Andy returning alive.

Leland’s latest attempt to insert himself into Kristen’s life is successful: It is revealed that Kristen’s missing egg was not implanted into the woman from episode 8, but sold to a private company… DF Global, which is the company that Sheryl just so happens to be working for. Uh oh. When Kristen goes to the company to discover Leland and his pregnant surrogate, the look of horror on her face speaks for us all. What will happen to the child? Will it be demon or human? It’ll be a long wait to find out in season 4.
