Time is running out for Lin. A flashback to the past shows his mother wondering if she’ll ever see him again after the prison escape, as he waits in the shadows outside her house.
In the present day, the village seems to be back to normal now that they have fresh water. Before he leaves, Lin is teaching Parvati all he knows so she can treat the villagers in his absence. Khader appears to be keeping his promise, as water pipes are installed in the village. The village leader, Qasim, admits he understands why Lin did the deal with Khader. Lin apologizes for not listening to Qasim more, and the two part on good terms.
Sebastian tries to get to Lisa (and his passport) with the stolen drug money, but finds Maurizio has found Lisa first and is questioning her on his whereabouts. He turns the apartment upside down, searching for any clues – and locates Sebastian’s passport.
Prabhu proudly shows Lin his new venture: a taxi! He will run the tour business during the day and drive the taxi at night, saving all he can for his wedding to Parvati. Prabhu is a good man, and truly one of the best characters in this show. Lin wisely points out he will still need to sleep sometime, and Prabhu replies he will once he is married. I’m going to miss this friendship so much.
On his farewell tour, Lin finally makes his way to Karla’s place. He calls Karla out for disappearing after he told her he loved her, not knowing she was dealing with the Sunita situation. Lin tells her this is goodbye… forever. The two agree to have dinner together for Lin’s last night in Bombay, and I hope they get to enjoy it without someone crashing their plans.
Sebastian – wearing a disguise – catches Lisa as she passes by a market. She angrily tells him he shouldn’t have ripped off Rahim and Maurizio, and that Maurizio took both of their passports. Sebastian informs her that Maurizio wanted to leave her behind. Lisa doesn’t care, and refuses to go with Sebastian as she knows what will happen to him once Rahim and Maurizio get their hands on him. Which they will, because he can’t escape without a passport. What a mess, Sebastian.
Kavita has gone through all the Red Notice files and was disappointed not to find a match to Lin. Nishan, her editor, says there are other ways to identify Lin – just as the man himself walks into the café. Kavita introduces Nishan as her boyfriend to cover their tracks. Lin searches for Didier, hoping to get his new passport – but Didier does not have it.
Sunita made the call. When Minister Pandey arrives, Karla listens from the compartment outside her room, recording their conversation. Pandey tells Sunita she shouldn’t have called his office, but she tells him she had no choice. She calls him on his claims – does he really love her, or is she just a mistress after all? Pandey tells Sunita not to mention his arrangement with Walid, as it’s not safe – but it’s already on the recording. Sunita begs Pandey to use the money he got from Walid to buy her debt from Madame Zhou, and set her free – but he won’t. For she is only a mistress to him. I have a feeling Sunita will be dead soon, but I hope I’m wrong.
Lin tries to get Didier to sober up, but the man is a mess from his time spent in lock up at the police station. The two exchange stories, as Lin tells Didier about his bank robber past and relates to Didier’s fear of police. Back in Australia, a police sergeant tracking Lin seems to have made a break in the case. Kavita is faxing Lin’s photo everywhere in an attempt to identify him, and it might finally be Lin’s downfall.
Karla catches the Minister as he leaves, inviting him back inside for a talk. She informs him of the recordings she holds of his time spent with Sunita, and that his life will be over, reputation ruined. Unless: Khader wins control of the village slums instead of Walid. He confirms he does love Sunita, but he loves his wife, children and job more. He has no choice but to comply with Karla’s wishes, and she offers to free Sunita – but Pandey asks that she remain with Madame Zhou. Khader is thrilled Pandey agreed to the deal, but Karla feels for Sunita and asks Khader to grant her freedom.
Lin convinces Didier to leave his apartment for a walk, and takes him to the café. Didier is happy to see his friends, and Maurizio soon spots him and asks where he has been. Maurizio asks if Sebastian has asked about obtaining a passport, but he has not. Later, Prabhu and Lin prepare for their dinners with Parvati and Karla. When Lin expresses his nervousness, Prabhu realizes he intends to ask Karla to run away with him. I can’t see her leaving Khader and the life she has built for herself here.
Lisa goes to Karla for safety. The two commiserate on their troubles with Sebastian and Lin, and Karla’s fear of commitment. Lisa tells her that maybe, Lin is just what she needs – but Karla fears Lin deserves better. Meanwhile, Prabhu and Parvati get to enjoy their dinner and movie date for real this time, without Parvati passing out – but with Parvati’s mother accompanying them and sitting between them.
The drug dealers Sebastian and Maurizio screwed over are sitting in Maurizio’s apartment when he arrives home. They threaten to kill him unless he gives up the name of the supplier – and Maurizio names Lin. Asshole. The men set out to find Lin – who is seated in a nice restaurant with Karla. The two have a great time, sharing funny stories and Lin expresses how much he is going to miss the friends he has made in Bombay. He asks Karla to come with him when he leaves tomorrow, telling her once more that he’s in love with her. Of course, she cannot leave her life here. She kisses Lin goodbye, for good. I'm still holding out hope these two will get their happily ever after.
The drug dealers find Didier and ask him where Lin is, but he doesn’t give Lin up. Sebastian goes to Lisa’s apartment, as he refuses to leave without her. She changes her mind and agrees to go with him, as long as Karla can get them the new passports she promised. Didier sends a messenger to the village to find Lin or Prabhu, immediately. I hope he can find Lin before the dealers do.
Karla goes to see Kavita, asking her to back off on Lin’s story. She says it doesn’t matter who Lin was in the past, but who he is now and all the good he is doing in the village. If Karla publishes her story, Lin will be forced on the run. Kavita questions her motives, and refuses to drop the story. Karla offers her a better story in exchange for killing the story on Lin: Khader and Walid’s battle for control of the village land. But it’s too late… Lin’s photo is sitting on the fax machine in an Australian police station, and the sergeant looking for him has discovered it.
Lin arrives at the café after his date, and Didier tells him they both must leave immediately. They manage to make it to Didier’s street, but a gang spy is on their tail. After Lin gets rid of the man, Prabhu pulls up in his taxi and quickly gets Lin and Didier to safety.. for now.
