Succession's fourth season will be its final one, HBO has announced. Showrunner and creator Jesse Armstrong has been hinting at the possibility of concluding the series, emphasizing his preference for a strong ending rather than dragging it out to produce a fifth season. Armstrong began toying with ideas on the show's direction after the conclusion of the second season in 2019. The final decision to end the show was made in late 2021 during a meeting with all the writers of the series.
In a recent interview, Jeremy Strong, one of the main stars of the show, shared his sentiment that leaving his role as Kendall Roy would feel like a form of death, hinting at the possibility of the series coming to an end. That possibility has now been confirmed, and Strong will be reprising his role in the upcoming fourth season, along with other returning stars such as Kieran Culkin, Sarah Snook, and Brian Cox.
The new season will focus on the conflict surrounding the sale of the media conglomerate Waystar Royco to tech visionary Lukas Matsson, played by Alexander SkarsgÄrd, and its impact on the Roy family and their relationships. There are unresolved issues from previous episodes, such as Tom siding with Logan instead of Shiv, adding to the power struggle between the Roy family members. Fans are excited to learn the fate of the world's biggest media conglomerate and how it will shape the Roy's industry. The new episodes will premiere on HBO and HBO Max weekly, starting from March 26.
Many of us are going to miss the drama of the Roy siblings, myself included.
