Recap: The Mandalorian - Season 3, Episode 6

This week on the Mandalorian: As the Quarrenese merchant ship approaches Trask, the navigators spot an Imperial ship in its path. Captain Shuggoth tries to reason with the ship's passengers but is met by Mandalorians instead. The Imperial ship is now led by Axe Woves, who previously appeared in "The Mandalorian" Season 2 alongside Bo-Katan Kryze. He explains that his crew has been hired to retrieve a Mon Calamari Viceroy's son, who happens to be on the Quarrenese ship. Bo-Katan's former ally, Koska Reeves, boards the ship and takes the Calamari prince, who had run away with Captain Shuggoth before the Mandalorian mercenaries traveled to the planet Plazir-15.

The planet Plazir falls outside the jurisdiction of the New Republic and is the destination for Bo-Katan, Mando, and Grogu, who are tracking Bo-Katan's former crew members to reclaim the Imperial fleet and recruit her previous Mandalorian command. However, upon spotting the Mandalorian fleet, Bo-Katan's ship is taken over by droids, which lead them to a station. The crew is surprised to find Imperial droids greeting them on an independent planet. When they request transport to the Mandalorians, they are instead taken to the High Senate. At the Senate, which is culturally diverse, Mando and Bo-Katan are welcomed by the Duchess (Lizzo) and her husband, former Imperial officer Captain Bombardier (Jack Black). They are the most amiable rulers the Mandalorians have encountered in a while.

The Duchess of Plazir tells her guests how her planet has thrived since Captain Bombardier arrived as part of his Amnesty program. She befriends Grogu by offering him fish and informs them that they were elected as rulers in the first-ever direct democratic election held at Plazir. When Mando requests to meet the Mandalorian fleet, the royals offer them a mission to investigate malfunctioning droids that are causing problems for Plazir citizens. If they succeed in eliminating the rogue battle droids, Plazir will recognize Mandalore as a sovereign planet, and the New Republic will view it similarly. Bo-Katan consults Mando, who eagerly agrees to take on the task.

Mando and Bo-Katan visit Commissioner Helgait, who is in charge of droid control. He shows them recordings of the droids causing trouble for the citizens. Bo-Katan asks why they don't shut down all the droids, but Helgait explains that the citizens rely on them for labor and recreation. The Mandalorians then visit the droid-builder Ugnaughts but struggle to communicate with them. Mando uses his knowledge from his encounter with Quill on Arvala-7 to win them over and get a chart of the droid locations they need.

Bo-Katan and Mando reach the docking loads as the chart had suggested and find a group of reprogrammed battle droids carrying packages under the watchful eye of a manager droid. While Bo-Katan questions the manager, Mando kicks the carriers to see which one might react. One of the battle droids throws Mando and escapes the dock, and the Mandalorians chase it down. The rogue droid puts up a fight, throwing objects at its pursuers, but Mando finally pins it down, and Bo-Katan blasts it from behind. They examine the droid's spark pad, which bears the name of a droid bar named The Resistor. Upon entering the bar, the music and chatter immediately stop, and the bartender droid approaches them. Mando immediately threatens the bartender, but Bo-Katan intervenes, telling him that his bias is clouding his judgment. The bartender reveals that if the rogue droids continue to cause problems, all droids may be replaced, which they do not want since droids still have a purpose on Plazir.

The Mandalorian duo makes their way to the docking area as indicated by the chart, where they find several reprogrammed battle droids being supervised by a manager droid, carrying packages. As Mando kicks the carriers to identify the rogue droid, Bo questions the manager droid. The Mandalorians locate the rogue droid, and a brawl ensues, with the droid hurling objects at them until they finally defeat it. Upon inspection, they discover that the droid visited a bar named The Resistor and was served Nepenthe, a lubricant that reprograms droids. They investigate the Nepenthe and find out that it contains sub-particles that are actually nano-droids with a chain code created by the Techno Union. The nano-droids were brought in by the head of security, Commissioner Helgait, who is revealed to be a separatist and a follower of Count Dooku.

When the Mandalorians confront Helgait, he threatens to activate a program that will return the reprogrammed droids to their original programming of war and destroy the planet. Bo tases him, and he is brought before the Duchess and Captain Bombardier. Helgait is sentenced to serve his term on a faraway planet. The Duchess knights Grogu and gives the Mandalorians the Key to Plazir, which they use to reach the mercenaries' hideout. While traveling, Mando asks Bo what she'll say to her previous crew, but she has no answer yet.

When Bo-Katan and Mando arrive at the open fields where Woves and his crew are staying temporarily, Bo challenges Woves to a battle as warriors. The two Mandalorians fight while others watch. Bo manages to pin Woves down and holds a knife to his throat to make him surrender, but he argues that she is not the rightful leader because Mando holds the Darksaber. Bo pleads with her crew that Mando is also a Mandalorian, but her words have no effect. This is why Mando brings the Darksaber to her.

Mando explains to Bo's previous crew that while he was exploring Mandalore, he was captured by a creature. Bo defeated the creature and took the Darksaber, making her the rightful owner of the weapon. The other Mandalorians agree, and Mando hands the weapon to the princess of the Kryze clan. It appears that Mandalore will soon have its rightful ruler back on the throne.
