It seems that the enchantment of the Zava effect has a limited lifespan, as the team has been facing a losing streak ever since their defeat to Nathan and West Ham. As a result, they have now slipped to the ninth position. Following their game with Newcastle, the coaches, Higgins, and Trent gather together to discuss the poor performance of the Greyhounds' offense and defense. Roy points out that the team has been passive during matches, merely observing Zava's moves. Just then, Rebecca bursts in and demands to know if they will ever win again. This leads to a heated discussion among the group, with the direction of north even being debated.
While sitting at a coffee shop, Rebecca unexpectedly meets John Wingsnight, a man she had gone on a few dates with during season 2. Their relationship didn't work out, particularly after Roy advised her that she should be with someone who makes her feel electrified. However, John has found love again and is now engaged to a woman he met only six months ago. They chat about their unpleasant encounter with Anthony Hopkins while watching Hamilton, indicating that John hasn't changed much. During their conversation, Jessica unintentionally refers to her fiancé as her "shite in nining armor," leading to her feeling embarrassed when Rebecca points out her word flub. Nonetheless, Rebecca is not trying to be cruel; instead, she is astounded that Tish the psychic appears to have been correct in two of her predictions (the first being the green matchbook).
In an attempt to unravel the mystery, Rebecca visits her doctor to eliminate Tish's third and final prophecy. The doctor performs tests to determine if Rebecca can still conceive at her age, assuring her that it is a possibility. Afterward, he calls her with the results, but it doesn't sound positive.
While in her office talking with Jack, Keeley is interrupted by Shandy, who eagerly informs her of the success of her new app for sleeping with celebrities. Afterward, Jack advises Keeley on how to dismiss Shandy using a compliment sandwich.
Initially, Keeley was unsure if she could fire her friend, but when Barbara informs her that Shandy was responsible for losing a client, she realizes that her entitlement has reached its limit. As expected, the termination of Shandy results in a private discussion in Keeley's office that quickly turns into a public outburst, with Shandy losing her composure and declaring that she will establish her own PR firm. However, her attempt to persuade Keeley's other employees to join her fails.
Keeley learns the importance of revoking office access to terminated employees. Just before leaving for the Richmond game with Jack, they both detect an unpleasant odor. Upon investigating, they discover a lamb on the conference table covered in shit. Shandy's parting gift.
Despite the ongoing challenges faced by Richmond, Ted's attention is completely diverted upon receiving a message from Michelle, indicating his involvement in a bullying case at his child's school. Beard and Roy are quick to offer assistance, with Roy sharing his somewhat terrifying advice. However, when Michelle contacts him again, Ted is stunned to learn that Henry was the perpetrator.
In the midst of the team's losing streak, Higgins broaches a difficult subject with Rebecca, expressing that the club is headed in the wrong direction. He clarifies that the issue is not the quality of the players, indicating that they may need to contemplate hiring a new manager. Rebecca is taken aback at the thought of firing Ted, deeming it too pessimistic. She shifts the conversation and inquires about Higgins' belief in psychics, to which he affirms. Higgins elaborates that psychics, even the fraudulent ones, can aid individuals in recognizing things they may not have realized about themselves.. Ted and Rebecca later have a run-in in the hallway that can only mean something more is coming for them.
Anastasia, for some reason, decides to give Nate her number after he fails to ask for it at Rupert's party. As A Taste of Athens has played a significant role in Nate's character development, he chooses to take her there for their date. Nate's interaction with the hostess Jade is still awkward, and she's taken aback when she learns that he's on a date with a model.
When Derek gives them a coveted window table, Anastasia is dissatisfied with the restaurant's appearance, stating that it is "not very nice." She becomes agitated because the dips are unappealing, so she can't share them with her followers. Eventually, she asks Nate to leave because the place is dingy and depressing. He shares with her that every significant moment in his family's life has occurred there. Anastasia makes up an excuse and departs. Jade brings him baklava, and Nate doesn't think he can finish it alone. Surprisingly, despite her previous lack of interest in him, she joins him.
Amid the atmosphere of despondency in the workout room, the Greyhounds confront their recent poor performance, and surprisingly, Jamie takes on the role of motivating the team. To everyone's surprise, Zava stands up and echoes Jamie's encouragement, which elicits a positive response from the team. However, Jamie, as always, remains unable to tolerate Zava's presence. As the match is about to commence, the fans are ecstatic to witness their newly beloved player in action, but the renowned player is mysteriously absent. Despite multiple attempts to contact Zava and his team, including his agent, manager, and publicist, no one responds. Even his avocado whisperer remains unresponsive. Unfortunately, Zava never shows up, and the Greyhounds suffer another defeat.
Keeley and Jack spend the evening cleaning up the mess created by Shandy and the lamb, causing them to miss the Richmond game. Later, they relax on the couch in Keeley's office, enjoying some drinks. During their conversation, they discuss relationships, and Keeley leans in to kiss Jack. While Keeley is initially sorry for her boldness, Jack happily reciprocates, and things heat up between them. As they become intimate, Keeley turns on the tint on her office window for privacy. Go Keeley!!
After another loss, Ted almost suffers a panic attack in his office, but Henry calls just in time to have a productive conversation about the bullying incident, leaving Ted visibly relieved. Meanwhile, Zava announces his retirement from football in a video, stating that he will focus on his family and avocado farm, leaving the team deflated. During Ted's brief post-game remarks, Sam asks about Zava, but the "Believe" sign falls apart behind him, causing panic among the team. Ted tears it apart and delivers an inspiring speech about believing - and it may come just in time, as next weeks episode has the team off to Amsterdam. I have a feeling we have some twists coming next week!
