This week, Richmond's woes continue with the Greyhounds' poor performance in an exhibition match. Everyone's spirits are low after a 5-0 loss against an Amsterdam team. Rebecca suggests a night out to make up for it, but Leslie and Keeley have different plans. Leslie intends to go to the Red Light District, while Jack is taking Keeley to Norway to witness the Aurora Borealis. When Roy inquires about Keeley's whereabouts, Rebecca replies that Keeley is off to be with someone who values her and promptly throws a picture of Zava off the wall.
To lift the team's spirits, Ted cancels curfew for the night, granting the team a free evening in Amsterdam. However, Jamie is excluded from the relaxation by Roy. Instead, Jamie gives Roy a tour of Amsterdam as they jog through the streets. Meanwhile, as Rebecca strolls alone, she accidentally falls over the bridge railing into the river while on a call with Sassy. A man hears her cries for help, pulls her out of the water, and in a gesture of support, he also throws his phone into the water.
Beard prepares mushroom tea for himself and Ted, but Ted hesitates to drink it, perhaps due to the fact that it's tea rather than the psychedelic substances infused within it. He texts Rebecca, asking if she wants to hang out for the evening but receives no reply due to Rebecca's accident.
In the hotel lobby, the team struggles to agree on a destination for the evening. Eventually, with assistance from the hotel staff, they settle on attending Jan's party, effectively squashing Van Damme's request for a live sex show. When the discussion shifts to where they should dine, Colin sneaks away, and Trent follows.
After tending to a cut on her ankle, Rebecca's rescuer offers to cook dinner while they wait for her clothing to dry. He provides a bin of his ex-girlfriend's clothes for her to wear in the meantime, and although she initially declines his offer of a foot massage, Rebecca eventually agrees to have a drink with him. Meanwhile, during their run, Roy confesses to Jamie that he knows little about Amsterdam and that they need to find bikes to explore the city.
While Beard's trip has already begun, Ted has yet to touch his tea. He eventually drinks some of it before departing to enjoy his night. Trent catches Colin at a gay bar, and the two confront each other in the street after Colin leaves in a panic. Trent reveals that he has known about Colin's secret for months but has not disclosed it for a good reason.
Ultimately, the players spend the night in the hotel, having a pillow fight and enjoying themselves. Meanwhile, Colin confides in Trent about his sexuality, and Trent reveals that he is also gay. Trent helps Colin deal with his emotions, and they party at a gay pub. Finally, Ted drinks the tea and finds himself in an American burger joint.
As Ted makes his way to the burger joint, he decides to stop at an art museum and discovers Vincent van Gogh's captivating masterpiece, "Sunflowers." Ted is moved by the painting's portrayal of the flower's lifecycle, finding inspiration in its message of perseverance in tough times. Later at the burger joint, Ted is engrossed in an old basketball game featuring the Chicago Bulls utilizing the "Triangle Offense" to dominate their opponents.
Ted gains inspiration from the painting, basketball match, and the sense of home, leading him to create a new style of play that he works on all night. The team reunites on the bus the next day, where they share their experiences from the night before. Ted presents Coach Beard with his new strategy, which involves a triangular formation, always leaving the player in possession of the ball with two passing options. However, Coach Beard informs Ted that this strategy is actually called "Total Football," invented in Amsterdam in the 1970s. Nevertheless, Coach Beard agrees to implement the style, and the players get a much-needed break from the game to process their emotions and stick together as a team. Others like Leslie, Jamie, and Trent provide emotional support to their friends in need. Ted shows his tactical understanding of the game, becoming a better coach and improving the team's chances of a successful season.
Rebecca arrives back from her wild night refreshed and happy. The team sing a rendition of "Every Little Thing (Is Gonna Be Alright)" as the bus leaves. Where will Team Richmond go from here?
