Recap: Ted Lasso - Season 3, Episode 8

The latest episode of Ted Lasso, titled “We’ll Never Have Paris,” sees Richmond's luck turn around thanks to their successful adoption of Total Football. Meanwhile, Ted's personal troubles persist as he copes with the visit of Michelle, Henry, and Dr. Jacob, and Keeley grapples with the aftermath of a personal matter that has been leaked online.

Despite the team's recent winning streak, Ted's anxiety is compounded by the presence of his visitors, and things become more complicated when Michelle reveals that she and Jake are going to Paris. This triggers Ted's fear of commitment and sends him into a spiral, seeking advice from the Diamond Dogs and even Rebecca.

Despite his coworkers' attempts to reassure him that he's worrying unnecessarily, Ted seeks Rebecca's help and asks her to involve her private investigator. Although Rebecca tries to downplay the significance of Paris, Ted can't shake off his anxieties about the trip.

Keeley's morning takes a turn for the worse when she discovers that a private video she had taken in the past has been leaked online along with other public figures and celebrities. As she sifts through the hurtful and insensitive comments on the video at her workplace, Barbara walks in on her. Although Jack is taking steps to address the leak, Keeley is dissatisfied with the solution she proposes. Barbara hands her a statement to share on social media, which has been drafted by a lawyer and appears to suggest that she should feel ashamed or embarrassed about the video's sexual nature, leaving Keeley upset.

Ted and Beard find themselves with a free day as there are no Richmond games or practices scheduled. They suggest various touristy activities to Henry, but to their surprise, he only wants to attend a football game. Unfortunately, the only game available is a West Ham match, much to Beard's dismay. Henry insists on waving to Nate from the stands, which confuses him. Rupert texts Nate after the game to apologize for Ted's attendance and promises it won't happen again.

Later, they visit a pub for drinks and food, but Mae is hesitant to serve them due to their attendance at a rival game. While Ted steps away to call Rebecca, Beard has a heartfelt conversation with Henry. Rebecca, who previously dangled the promise of a PI update in front of Ted, has a change of heart and bluntly tells him to focus on his son and not Michelle's engagement. As Ted returns to the pub, he joins Henry and Beard in singing the final lines of "Hey Jude."

Nate is experiencing some good fortune. Jade spent the night with him and teased him for sneaking out of bed to brush his teeth, shave, and shower. She then playfully shared her morning breath with him. Being as awkward as ever, Nate tries to ask her about the status of their relationship in a roundabout way, achieving nothing. Nate clearly misses the Diamond Dogs and their support group after what happened with AFC Richmond. So, he tries to form his own support group with his West Ham colleagues, but Rupert declines his invitation, and the advice he receives from the other two is subpar.

Nate eventually gets an answer when Jade comes over to his place after West Ham's victory. She asks him if he wants to go out and celebrate, but he's too preoccupied with an article about Richmond's coaches attending the game as spectators. Jade calls him her boyfriend, answering his burning question that they are indeed dating.

The news of the data leak reaches the Richmond locker room, prompting a discussion about the taking, sharing, distribution, and storage of nude photos, which turns out to be a familiar topic for everyone, including Will. However, the conversation stops abruptly when Sam reveals that Keeley's video has been leaked. Isaac demands that everyone deletes any nudes in their camera rolls, but Colin opts to do it in private due to his sexual preferences. Isaac follows him, thinking he's being brushed off, and snatches his phone, only to discover that Colin has photos of men, not women. Isaac nods and walks away without a word.

Roy overhears the mention of Keeley and leaves the room quietly, visibly upset. He encounters Keeley in the parking lot and apologizes, expressing concern for her well-being. However, he ruins the moment by asking who the video was intended for, causing Keeley to leave without answering.

Jack decides to cancel her and Keeley's plans to attend the polo match, assuming that Keeley won't want to be around people or the press after her private video leaked. However, Keeley had already bought an outfit, so Jack dresses up alongside her in a stunning pantsuit, and they go on a mini golf date instead. They meet an old friend of Jack's on the course, and Keeley's cheerful mood is dampened when Jack introduces her as her "friend."

Later, Jack tells Keeley that her father's lawyers have put together a more toned-down version of the statement. However, Keeley doesn't want to apologize or release any statement at all. They get to the root of the problem brewing between them when Jack snaps at Keeley, suggesting that maybe she shouldn't have made the video in the first place. Keeley stands her ground and tells her that she doesn't regret making the video or sharing it. Jack leaves, and Keeley is unsure if she'll come back.

The Jamie Tartt storyline of redemption continues as he goes to see his former girlfriend the next morning, humbly seeking her forgiveness. We discover that the scandalous video that was leaked was initially intended for Jamie. Although Jamie admits to deleting all of the Keeley images from his phone after their breakup (confessing that he believed she was only dating Roy to make him jealous), he overlooked the ones in his email. He takes responsibility for the mishap, acknowledging that his weak password, which was simply "password" with two "s's," was a significant contributor to the data breach. Although Jamie feels culpable for the situation, Keeley doesn't blame him, and they share a warm embrace.

When Michelle arrives at Ted’s apartment to pick Henry up after the Paris trip, Ted makes a show of looking down at her left hand when he hands her their son’s backpack. And … there’s nothing on her ring finger. Ted stands at the window as they leave, watching as Henry bolts right past Jake’s open arms and hops into the back of the taxi instead of giving him a hug.
