The ninth episode of Ted Lasso's third season kicks off with the Richmond team enjoying a lively practice session, prompting even Roy to acknowledge the benefits of switching strategies. However, tensions arise as Isaac appears to be ignoring Colin, refusing to meet him for a chat over beer.
Keeley shares her frustration with Rebecca about Jack's lack of response to her numerous texts. Meanwhile, Ted arrives with his customary biscuits and requests to skip the press conference to attend a parent-teacher meeting for Henry. Rebecca suggests that Roy take Ted's place instead.
At the West Ham office, Nathan is surprised by a visit from Jade, but Rupert makes a snide remark about her being too good for Nate. Later, Rebecca intervenes in a heated argument between the reporters and Coach Beard about Jimmy Page and Joe Walsh.
Despite Colin seeking advice from Trent on how to approach Isaac, the captain remains distant. Rebecca calls Roy to her office to address his nonchalant behavior, urging him to focus on his responsibilities.
At the start of the match day, Rupert invites Nate for a "guys' night" out, while both West Ham and Richmond are set to play Southampton and Brighton, respectively. Keeley receives a message from Jack, who is in Argentina and reveals that they have broken up rather than taking a break.
During the match, Richmond struggles as Isaac is preoccupied, and Brighton scores a goal. A spectator in the stands continuously insults the team, and at halftime, Isaac reaches his breaking point when the fan uses a homophobic slur. He confronts the fan, leading to him getting a red card.
In the locker room, Ted questions Isaac about the incident, but he storms out after expressing his frustration. Roy offers Isaac guidance, pointing out that he needs to address the root of his anger.
The team speculates that Isaac's reaction was because he is gay, but then Colin courageously comes out to the team, and everyone accepts him without hesitation.
Ted intervenes when one of the players claims they are indifferent about Colin's sexual orientation, stating that they do care and will support him as much as they can. Later, Colin confides in Trent that the reaction was better than he expected. Despite Isaac's absence, Colin assists in two fantastic goals and Richmond wins.
West Ham also emerges victorious in their match. Jade congratulates Nathan via text as he gets ready to go out with Rupert. Rupert takes Nathan to a club where he introduces him to two women, claiming it's a "guys' night." Nathan experiences a shift and tells Rupert he has to leave. He goes to Jade's apartment instead and greets her with a hug.
As the next press conference approaches, Ted is absent and Roy steps in to take his place. He answers questions about Isaac's conduct, acknowledging that it was inappropriate but also highlighting that football players are human beings and face personal challenges that others may not know about. Rebecca observes the entire conference and nods in approval of Roy's performance.
Isaac visits Colin's house after the game and opens up about feeling upset and angry that he couldn't tell him the truth. Colin welcomes him inside and they bond over playing video games while Isaac asks him various questions about being gay, including learning that Bumbercatch is apparently the fittest guy on the team.
