In Parish, Giancarlo Esposito portrays Gracián "Gray" Parish, a chauffeur and devoted family man with a turbulent history, who reluctantly reenters the criminal underworld of New Orleans after striking a deal to undertake a final assignment. This thriller follows Esposito's Parish as he becomes entangled with a nefarious gang operating within the city's darkest recesses, swiftly discovering that the stakes are far higher than he initially anticipated.
We meet Gray as he leads a frenzied existence as a co-owner of a limousine service provider in bustling New Orleans. Struggling to stave off collapse, he employs every tactic to keep his business afloat, even amidst the loss of his son. Hindered by his inability to move forward, he tests the patience of his family. While his wife and daughter respectfully acknowledge his grief, they strive to forge ahead with their lives as he remains ensnared in a desolate abyss, unable to find solace.
In a world dominated by ride-hailing apps and alternative transport options, Parish diligently endeavors to salvage his enterprise by seeking loans and personally attending to service demands. An unexpected opportunity arises when a former colleague presents him with a chance to secure significant gains with minimal risk.
Consumed by sorrow, burdened by despair, and fueled by pride, Gray becomes an easy target for Tongai leader, The Horse (Zackary Momo), and his siblings, Zenzo (Ivan Mbakop) and Shamiso (Bonnie Mbuli). Impressed by his discretion and unique abilities, the trio shows reluctance in releasing Gray after just one successful mission. Consequently, Gray finds himself caught in the midst of the Tongais' escalating conflict with another criminal syndicate, placing not only his livelihood but also his wife, Ros (Paula Malcomson), and daughter, Makayla (Arica Himmel), in grave danger.
During the rendezvous with The Horse and his gang to complete the delivery, Parish and Colin's nervous yet useful accomplice meets a fatal end right before their eyes. Despite being taken aback by the sudden loss, Parish maintains his composure and professionalism, though now stained with the blood of his fallen comrade. The Horse, impressed by Parish's unwavering demeanor and commitment, considers him capable of seeing a job through to the end and duly provides him with payment. With this transaction, Parish and Colin unwittingly unlock a pathway to lucrative yet perilous ventures in the days ahead.
Parish airs Sunday nights on AMC and AMC+.
